MCA #2 | Thursday Afternoon

Silver and Rey were going to try cooking lessons again. Well, they were moving on to baking this time. He thought it ended well the last time but when it came down to it he actually hadn't learned anything about cooking. Hopefully this time will end up better on the learning front.

How hard could it be to bake some chocolate chip cookies, really. Children do it on TV commercials all the time.

"There's a lot of measurements on here."

"No, but I have a whisk. That'll work too," she told him. "Just more work."

"Let's do that then," he said. "Maybe it'll be one of those things where it's better because you worked hard for it?"

Even he knew that was bullshit, but he could pretend to have optimism sometimes.

Meanwhile there was Rey.

"That's actually true."

"These will be really good then," he assured her. "Do you want me to do the manual labor?"

"You are the one who's learning," she teased.

"That's fair," he allowed, going to do just that. "Though I think you might be hoping I work up a sweat and get my shirt off."

"Yes, actually," she decided.

Silver huffed out a laugh and stopped whisking for a second to pull his shirt off. "I did say something about being shirtless in the apartment more often, didn't I?"

"You did," Rey said appreciatively. "And I did say I'd ask for it more."

[long_memory]

"Which you did," he said, taking up the whisk again. "We're both keeping up our end of the deal."

"It's definitely more distracting, but worth it," she told him, going to get the eggs. She wasn't too distracted for eggs yet.

"I could always put the shirt back on if you find it too distracting." Last thing they needed was burnt cookies due to shirtlessness.

"I would just ask you to take it off again," Rey admitted.

"I'll just keep it off then for convenience's sake." He stopped whisking and tilted the bowl towards her. "Mixed enough?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Mixed enough," she said, and asked, "Do you want sprinkles mixed in or put on top at the end?"

It didn't matter what order that went in, right?

"Let's do it now," he said. "That way it gets in the cookie instead of just on top."

Because sprinkles added just so much flavor.

Sugar was kind of a flavor?

"Do you want to do the honors?" she asked, holding up the red sprinkles.

[long_memory]

"Oh absolutely," he said, reaching for the sprinkles. "You want to do the green ones?"

[thatwaslucky]

"It'll be teamwork," she said, picking up the green ones to start tapping into the mixture.

[long_memory]

Surely they wouldn't meld together to make discolored sprinkles. Absolutely not.

"The chocolate chips need to go in at some point I assume?"

[thatwaslucky]

"We can add them now, I think," she said, because you know what would make the sprinkles even better? Getting mixed in with chocolate.

"Only two cups?" he asked. "What if we add the whole bag?"

[thatwaslucky]

"I think that would probably get incredibly messy," Rey told him. "I think only so many fit in the dough..."

[long_memory]

"Oh, fine," he said with a dramatic sigh. "I'll eat the leftover ones by themselves."

Oh no, anything but that.

"You're adorable," Rey told him, grinning. "We can start with two cups and add to it."
