While Silver obviously preferred his girlfriend be in human form, he had to admit having Rey around as a cat wasn't too much of a nuisance. She tended to keep to herself and liked to sleep in the sun a lot. He must have been far more annoying as a bird.

Still, it had been about a week now and he was starting to get a little worried. He hadn't been a bird for that long, had he? He caught himself staring at the cat every so often, almost willing it to turn back into a human before he really started freaking out about it.

"I'll be right back," Silver said, leaning in for a quick kiss. It had been a week, after all.

"Thank you," she said, kissing him back because it had been a week, and then going to head for the bathroom. She dropped the blanket before she got there.

It didn't take Silver long to get some clothes. Luckily Rey dressed in muted colors so Silver would have had to try hard to mismatch something.

He joined her in the bathroom after tossing the clothes onto the bed. "Everything okay?"

"Completely okay," Rey told him, stepping into the shower once she got it running. "Are you coming?"

"Only if you want me to," he said, even as he was pulling off his shirt. "Didn't know if you needed some human time alone."

"I can get that later," she told him. "I'd rather company."

"Well I'm certainly not going to complain about that." Silver stripped off the rest of his clothes before joining Rey in the shower.

She stepped aside a little to give him room under the water, and leaned in for another kiss. "Hi."

"Hi," Silver replied, kissing her back for a moment before ducking his head under the spray to get his hair wet. "Feeling more human yet?"

"Getting there," she said, frowning a little. "It's disorienting, turning back."

"No kidding," he said with a smile. "I don't know what's weirder to recover from, four legs or two wings."

"I'd say at least you got to fly but I would think that would make the transition harder," Rey mused.

"True," he said, reaching for the shampoo. "What else are you going to do to shake off being a cat for a week?"

"Hm," she said, going for the soap. "Maybe eat food. Drink out of a real glass..."

"What, didn't like doing that weird tongue lapping thing cats do?" he teased.

[thatwaslucky]

"It's not weird, it's natural," Rey said with a laugh.

[long_memory]

"It looked weird," he joked, stepping under the spray again. "Sounded weird too."

[thatwaslucky]

"My tongue is probably not something you want me feeling self-conscious about," she pointed out.

"Your tongue is very different from a cat's," he assured her.

[thatwaslucky]

"That's good to know," she said with a little laugh, soaping up her arms.

Silver was satisfied that he had gotten all of the shampoo out of his hair (which was a miracle in itself), and moved over slightly to let Rey get most of the water. "Not the worst way to spend a week, though. Less alcohol was involved than the last weird thing that happened to you."

"I just want some time for normal," Rey admitted. "Maybe a solid month where I can actually sleep next to you where we're both ourselves and human."

"That would be nice," he said, going to put his arms around her. "Think it'll happen?"

"I hope so," she said, sliding her arms around him in return. "We've been robbed lately."

For a lot of the summer, really.

"Holes, weird drinks, birds, cats," Silver said, sighing. "Yeah, we deserve a break."
