MCA #1 | Way too early Sunday morning

Silver hadn't really been worried about Rey at the pub crawl because she was not much of a drinker, and knew how to take care of herself. So he didn't feel the need to wait up for her last night. However, she had been rather social the last couple days and Silver had been missing her company, which explained why he was sleeping in her bed instead of his own.

Which was pretty sappy. Oh well, that secret belonged to him. And the squirrels. And Rey if she came home before he woke up.

"Point," she conceded. "Still no pub crawl, though."

"Not really your style," he agreed, nuzzling against her neck. "Something small, where nobody throws up, hopefully."

"Especially me," Rey said with the tiniest of nods. "Christmas was fun but the morning after wasn't."

Aside from getting to sleep in with him, of course, but there'd also been tiny horses and headaches.

"I seem to have accepted that this is happening, huh."

"Just trying to prepare you," he said, sounding amused. "It was going to happen whether you accepted it or not."

Rey was quiet for a moment, and said, "Before last year no one even knew when my birthday was."

The fact that multiple people could care was still new.

"It's about time that changed, don't you think?" he asked.

"Maybe. I don't hate it," Rey admitted, moving so that she could kiss his lips. "Thank you for caring."

"I wouldn't be a very good boyfriend if I didn't care about your birthday," he said before kissing her again.

"I don't know yours," she said, kissing him back.

Which she'd kind of categorized as one of those things he'd maybe tell her someday but she didn't count on it.

"Well that's understandable," he said. "I don't know mine either."

"So you've never celebrated it?" Rey asked.

[long_memory]

"No. I was alone a lot of the time." By choice, but whatever. "And then when I was a pirate I usually had other things to worry about. And I don't want to know what kind of party the men would throw me anyway."

"A lot of alcohol, probably," she said lightly. "You could always pick one now."

A lot of alcohol, probably a lot of prostitutes but he wasn’t going to mention that out loud.

“What, pick a random date?” he asked. “I don’t need presents and cake that badly.”

"Maybe not cake and presents if you don't want it, but we could always do something," she told him. "Take the opportunity to celebrate you."

“I don’t need that,” he said. “I prefer other people’s birthdays, like yours.”

"Okay," she said, kissing him again. "Though again, mine's not really a big deal."

“Try telling that to your friends.” No way they were going to be chill about it.

"Maybe if I don't bring it up," Rey said. "Annie only just found out I don't have a name to put on an ID..."

“What, like a last name?” he checked. “You could always make one up.”

"That's complicated for me," she told him. "And I haven't actually needed one so far, so."

Stupid abandonment issues.

“I understand,” he said. A lot of things like that were complicated for him as well, and he knew not to push.

“I think it’s a little more complicated than that now anyway. Forms, birth certificates. Back in my day you said your name and people just believed you.”

"There is that. You could probably do the same in my galaxy, maybe. That's what I did on Jakku."

It helped it was her real name.

“It does make things easier,” he said, kissing her again. “But I also guess it makes identity theft easier as well.”
