After radio was done, Silver went back to the sanctity of his own apartment where he could ignore the falling bags in peace. At first he had been disturbed and did his best to hide them out of sight. Among them were the ones that related to anything regarding his apparent attraction to Captain Flint and the guilt over leaving him and Madi behind.

Eventually he got tired of putting in the effort of hiding things and just sat on the mermaid couch in front of the TV and ignored them falling around him. He repressed his entire childhood, he could repress some overly familiar suitcases, don't you think he couldn't.

"Mine's not much better," he said, gesturing around. He kicked a bag out of the way of the couch. "The couch is clear so far though."

"I'd offer to just wave a hand and move things but kicking is probably more cathartic," Rey decided, making her way to the couch.

"It is," he said, flopping down. "I've stopped reading what they say, it's all nonsense."

"I wish I could," Rey admitted, taking her seat and immediately snuggling up against him. "I always have to look."

Silver put an arm around her, ignoring the thump of another bag that had landed behind the couch. "Are yours that bad?"

"Kind of. Some of them are smaller and don't bother me until they keep coming, others are just mean."

The Kylo Ren bag wasn't that bad, the larger, heavier bag marked "Ben" was worse, for instance.

"I don't like having it all literally spelled out like that."

"I understand. It is very cruel," he said. "You're more than welcome to stay here and ignore them with me."

"Mine will probably follow me here-" Just going to ignore the sound of another bag falling somewhere nearby. "-but it's much easier to ignore with you."

"We are pleasant distractions for each other," he agreed. "I'm sure we won't actually drown in the luggage."

Although they probably had enough issues between them for it to get pretty full in here.

"We may be stuck here a while though."

They were not stuck here, she could move a mountainside.

He smiled. "Is that supposed to be a downside?"

[thatwaslucky]

"Well," she said, turning enough to comfortably drape her arm over his midsection, "this is a huge chore."

Huge. Just terrible.

"Just terrible," he said, kissing the top of her head. Look at them, making the best of a bad situation. "Is there even anything in those bags? I didn't look."

"I haven't either," Rey admitted. "Some of them sound really heavy but I don't know if that means it's full or just a heavy thing."

"It would be a lot more fun if it had candy in there or something," he said. "That would make it at least a little less annoying."

"Confront your issues, get a prize?" Rey teased, and then decided, "Actually that sounds like a good idea."

[long_memory]

"I mean, if the island really wanted to help people that's what it would do," Silver said. "This here is just annoying."

"Annoying, and I'm absolutely going to think too much about it," Rey admitted. She could repress like a champ until the issues were literally in front of her.

"Do you think that by doing that anything will change with the issues?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"For some people, maybe. For me, probably not," she said, thoughtful. "A trunk about parental abandonment doesn't change anything, aside from stick in my head."

A lot of her issues were what they were and that was it.

Silver tightened his arms around her. "Then there's no use to keep thinking about it."

Avoid everything, like he did!

"Can you really turn those thoughts off that easily?" Rey wondered.

[long_memory]

"Not easily," he said. "But if you try hard enough you can."

[thatwaslucky]

"I'm not sure that's my speed these days," Rey said after a moment. "Thinking about it doesn't change anything but not thinking about things just made it hurt worse later."

Silver just shrugged. It seemed to be working okay for him so far.

Just, you know, ignore all the bags lying around.
