MCA #2 | Thursday Morning

Silver liked to think he took most Fandom weirdness in stride. He didn't complain about being a bird for 11 days, didn't complain that part of it was due to Friday repeating several times, and didn't complain about the weird elves who fixed (re: cleaned out the little tubes for once) his coffee maker yesterday.

This, though. With the song. This was something else. He suddenly wished he had bought those weird looking headphones he saw on TV once just so he had something to drown out the Feliz Navidad song.

Though, knowing the island, the song would probably come through those too.

There was nothing to do but to add a shot of something to his coffee (thanks again, elves) and try to cope.

"It's also sparkly and purple." Even he didn't know if that was a pro or a con.

"Even better," she nodded.

"I--" Silver stopped and tilted his head for a second. "I swear it's getting louder."

"I'm trying to pretend it's not happening," Rey told him.

"Is it working?" he asked.

She paused. "Talking is giving me something else to focus on, so sort of?"

The talking was a distraction, though Silver felt like he was trying to talk over a crowded, and mostly Spanish speaking bar.

"You're handling it better than I am." And he was a man who could take a lot of sea shanties before he got annoyed.

"I'd be much worse about it if I was alone," she said. As it was she'd probably be super cranky by the end of the day. "What will help you?"

"Being knocked unconscious?" He was kidding. Mostly.

"Much as I love you I can't help with that," Rey smiled. "What's second best?"

"...honestly I can't think of anything at the moment," Silver said. "Just thoughts of wishing people a Merry Christmas."

"You're going to have a very bad day at this rate," she said, moving to wrap her arm around him.

"Think I'm going to have to suffer through the next few hours," he agreed with a nod. "Maybe penance for missing the weekend?"

"I don't know if I would call a few extra days as a bird ' missing it,'" she said. "Let's sit down and turn on something loud and terrible."

"We can give it a try," he said, putting his arm around her shoulders so he could lead her over to the couch. "Endless choices when it comes to watching something terrible."

What with those Hallmark Christmas movies.

"Do you have a preference?" she asked, sitting once they'd reached the couch. "Anything with screaming is probably right out."

"Leaves out horror movies and those shows on Bravo with all the women." He caught an episode or two of Real Housewives, what of it? "There's a bunch of Christmas movies on for sure."

"I like the idea of those," Rey said. "I've hardly seen any of them."

"They're usually pretty saccharine," he admitted. "But I think that's what the Christmas spirit is?"

"It seems so," she said, snuggling up a little. "Love and togetherness and all. I like that."

"It is kind of nice," he admitted, reaching for the remote. "But after watching a couple of them you might want to go back to listening to the song."

"Then I guess you need to choose good ones, then," Rey grinned.

"That will be objective, but I'll do my best," he said with a grin. "Let me find one that isn't too cheesy."

He would settle on Die Hard. Or Die Hard 2.

"But cheesy is the spirit of the holiday," she teased.

As evidenced by the song. The repetitive, repetitive song.

"And I thought you wanted me to choose good ones," Silver joked. "There's some with a balance, I promise you."

Die Hard had romance!
