Outside the Radio Station | Early Morning

If Silver were a little less of a coward, he might have some shame about asking his girlfriend to escort him to and from the radio station. As it was, he was a huge coward and really did not care in the slightest. Rey was going to be out doing heroic Jedi stuff anyway, so it wasn't like it was that big of an ask.

"I don't like any of this," he said as he stepped out of the station. He was tucking a bottle of rum into his coat pocket. If he was going to be stuck at home for a few days, he might run out so he dipped into the squirrel's supply. He'd make it up to them later.

"Thanks for walking me back home," Silver said. "I know this isn't exactly the most thrilling thing."

He was sure she'd rather be off chopping up things with her lightsaber.

"If you can say that you probably haven't gotten close enough to the park to know that's not true," Rey said, and shook her head. "I like being able to see you get home in one piece."

For as much as she could actually protect anyone, anyway.

"I have been trying not to get close to anything," he said. "Straight line from here to the apartment, that's it."

"Good. The lucky thing is it seems like nothing's coming out to attack people," Rey said, and had to add, "Yet."

"Well, there's a squid attacking people," he said. "Or at least Steve."

"Oh." She considered that, and said, "All right, that's a sign to stay away from water..."

"We should just stay away from the whole thing," he said. "Is there any way I can convince you to be a hermit for the rest of the week?"

"I can't," she said with a tiny smile. "People might need help. There's an attack squid."

Which she'd only be so helpful with because she was not a strong swimmer.

Silver was a strong swimmer, even missing a leg, but was he going to help people? Absolutely not.

"You're a better person than I am."

"I'm attempting to be a good Jedi," she told him. "Think of it as training."

"Training," he repeated. "Involving squids."

[thatwaslucky]

"I spent a few days on a water planet where the people were trying to kill us, that kind of training is probably more helpful than you'd think," Rey said seriously.

"They really do have a planet for everything, don't they?" he asked.

[thatwaslucky]

"It seems like it," she said. "Should we start walking?"

They were probably fine here, but she did like him safe at home better.

He nodded. "Let's avoid the scenic water view, yeah?"

Yeah, tentacles avoided but they had to go by the giggling and the mirrors.

"Agreed," she said, unclipping her lightsaber to hold in one hand while she reached for his hand with the other. "I have no desire to actually fight anything with tentacles today."

"Me either," he said, taking her hand. "Have you seen anything else weird around here, aside from the ash?"

"There are things that try to grab you by the port, and by an entrance to the school, and there's something in the warehouse district, but I haven't actually seen what it is yet," she reported as she started walking. "There are also mirrors lining a street that I don't trust at all."

"I don't think I would trust random mirrors either," he said. "I don't exactly know what would happen, but I bet it would be bad."

"It feels like there's something in them," Rey said.

[long_memory]

"That's disturbing," he said. "Let's avoid those as well."

"We'll pass the end of them, but it's fine," she said, firmly, ignoring the faint giggling she could hear from the playground across from the station.

Yep, Silver was firmly ignoring that as well. "I'd be okay with you destroying them with your lightsaber."

"I would, too, but not until I know why they're there. They probably try to drag you in, or something."

Or the opposite.

"You're very good at getting me to be worried about things I've never considered before," he said, smiling slightly.
