Outside the Radio Station | Early Morning

If Silver were a little less of a coward, he might have some shame about asking his girlfriend to escort him to and from the radio station. As it was, he was a huge coward and really did not care in the slightest. Rey was going to be out doing heroic Jedi stuff anyway, so it wasn't like it was that big of an ask.

"I don't like any of this," he said as he stepped out of the station. He was tucking a bottle of rum into his coat pocket. If he was going to be stuck at home for a few days, he might run out so he dipped into the squirrel's supply. He'd make it up to them later.

"We'll pass the end of them, but it's fine," she said, firmly, ignoring the faint giggling she could hear from the playground across from the station.

Yep, Silver was firmly ignoring that as well. "I'd be okay with you destroying them with your lightsaber."

"I would, too, but not until I know why they're there. They probably try to drag you in, or something."

Or the opposite.

"You're very good at getting me to be worried about things I've never considered before," he said, smiling slightly.

"Sorry," she said sheepishly. "I'm very glad you're staying home."

Unlike her.

"That's one thing you'll never have to worry about," he said, giving her hand a squeeze. "I'm a terrible fighter, I know where I belong."

"I'm sure you can't be that bad," she said, like she hadn't learned from his stories about cooking, "but I like you being safe."

"I was bad before I lost my leg. I can only be worse now," he said. "But I'm glad you don't think less of me for it."

"That is something you could get better at if you wanted to," she told him with another squeeze of his hand.

"Now why would I do that when I have you to watch over me?" he joked.

"Because sometimes we wake up to the thing that needs to be fought in our apartments," Rey said with a smile.

"I'll risk it." He turned his head real quick at the sound of more giggling. "That is so disturbing."

"Nothing involving giggling at a playground can be good," Rey agreed. "At least it seems to be localized."

"Unless there's actual children giggling at the playground," he said. "Then again, they could also be planning something."

Rey paused, suddenly talking herself out of checking.

"Giggling doesn't mean they're in trouble. This week giggling means they're probably evil."

"Good point," he said. "Best to assume everything this week is evil. Present company excluded, of course."

"Yes, please don't be evil," Rey said with a laugh. "I couldn't handle that this week."

"I don't think I have it in me to be evil this week." He was too busy being scared and anxious for no good reason.

"I don't think stressful is a strong enough word for what this is," she agreed.

They at least seemed to have made it within sight of the apartment building without anything horrible happening. "You'll be careful though, right? Only pick a fight with the squid if it starts something first?"

"I'll be careful," she promised. "I don't want to have to get into any fights."

Half the time she felt like she wouldn't win them anyway.

"Good," he said, leaning in for a kiss. "I'll be careful too. Won't turn on the oven or anything."

Rey smiled, kissing him back. "Maybe leave that until when I get back?"

"I'll stick only to food I don't have to cook," he promised.

[thatwaslucky]

"I appreciate it," Rey smiled. "You can even feel free to use my pantry if you'd like."

The reason it was so well-stocked for was weeks like this, really.
